Local Attractions

In the heart of Stranraer sits the castle of St John originally built in 1511 the castle now houses a museum, the shops, bars and restaurants are also only a short stroll away. In the summer months Agnew Park across from Neptune's rest offer’s a great range of activities for the whole family from small boats, mini railway, play park, refreshments from the cafeteria or maybe just a stroll along the lovely beach to our local marina and fishing boats.

Maybe on those wet days you could visit our local Ryan centre which has a number  things to do from theatre, swimming, cinema and soft play area for the children. Also close to the town include Glenluce,  Portpatrick and Stranraer golf courses and Stranraer FC grounds and a number of great fishing spots.

Portpatrick Golf Club - Stranraer - 5.28 miles
Portpatrick Golf Club is situated in South West Scotland overlooking the North Channel to Ireland, the area enjoys a temperate climate due to the Gulf Stream and Golf is playable all year round. The Club is renowned for its friendly welcome to visitors. One of Portpatrick's well-kept secrets is the excellent 9 hole Par 3 Dinvin Course, which is maintained to the same high standards as the 18 hole Dunskey Course. Taking about an hour to play it is ideal for the golfer looking for a quick bit of exercise or for the beginner who does not feel up to the rigours of 18 holes.
